General Data Protection Regulation
(EU) 2016/679 is a European law regulation on privacy and protection of personal data, applicable to all individuals in the European Union and European Economic Area. It also regulates the export of personal data outside the EU. The GDPR aims to provide citizens and residents with ways to control their personal data and unify the European regulatory framework. Approved on April 15, 2016 and effective from May 25, 2018.
Pontus Vision is a native GDPR solution, with scores for the 12 steps recommended by the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Officer) for compliance. Brexit will not impact GDPR, as it became UK law prior to the event.
Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados Pessoais
Law No. 13,709 / 2018, it is the Brazilian legislation that regulates the activities of processing personal data and also changes articles 7 and 16 of the Marco Civil da Internet. Brazil has become part of the countries that have specific legislation to protect data and the privacy of their citizens. Approved on June 28, 2018 and will take effect on August 20, 2020.
The Law establishes regulations for the collection, storage, treatment and sharing of personal data. Ensuring that individuals have control over how their data is used. The application will be in any organization that stores or processes data from residents in Brazil, at the national or international level, with a fine penalty of 2% of global revenue or up to R $ 50 million and administrative sanctions.
The Pontus Vision platform is the first one customized for the LGPD, with the preparation of reports in Portuguese.
California Consumer Privacy Act
Approved on June 28, 2018, enforced from January 1, 2020. First North American law inspired by the European Union’s GDPR.
Privacy Data Protection in Argentina
The Personal Data Protection Act 25.326, Regulatory Decree 1558/2001 and other provisions of the National Directorate for the Protection of Personal Data comprise the current legal system of the Argentine data protection Regulation, since 2000.
Turkish Data Protection Law
Enacted in 2016 is accompanied by other regulations and communications, while draft versions of secondary legislation have been published by Turkey’s supervisory authority, the Personal Data Protection Council (“DPB”).
